“Climbing without a ladder”

Romy Shum, a Managing Director at the Man Group, gave an inspiring talk to our Lower Sixth this week about what the world of work is really like, what employers are looking for, and what you might do from now to make yourself hireable. This was the latest session in our Leadership Programme aimed at upskilling our Lower Sixth for future leadership roles.

Romy discussed the importance of emotional intelligence, “staying in your lane” and being visible. So much of what she said resonates with our Edge Programme and our drive to prepare our pupils for life beyond Caterham. The Lower Sixth were so inspired that many of them stayed behind for half an hour afterwards to ask her questions!
