Thrilling House Drama Performances!
Last Wednesday saw the return of听House Drama, with Caterham Houses听taking over the Humphreys Theatre for a thrilling afternoon of听monologues,听duologues, and original听devised Pieces!听
The monologues were a fierce contest,听showcasing听highlights听from classical听and听contemporary texts听鈥� and even the occasional听gymnastic flourish! Josh G听gave a tremendous performance of 鈥楾o Be or Not听To听Be鈥�.听Florence R. took first place for Lewisham with a performance听that was听detailed and full of tension!听
Duologues听saw听dramatists take on a wide range of genres, with many houses showing off their听comic flair.听Whilst we saw many iconic duos in this contest, first place was awarded to Amritaa D.听and Shreya M. for their brilliant performance of Coward鈥檚 classic听Blithe Spirit.听听
Finally, we saw the听highly听anticipated听devised听pieces. All听houses presented some excellent new pieces, with some brilliant听observations about school life and even moments of meta-theatricality.听Ridgefield听gave a heartwarming performance about听self worth听in the age of social media, but it was听Lewisham who came first in the round with their fantastically chaotic听performance as 鈥楾he Lewisham Improv Society鈥�!听
The competition ended with Lewisham and Ridgefield听coming in joint first, threatening听Ridgefield鈥檚 well defended winning streak. A huge听congratulations听is听in order for听everyone who took part, performing in front of your peers can be an intimidating moment even without the听honour听of your house on the line!听
